Ohana Pier is God’s House…
This is exactly what Ohana Pier was designed for and God implanted this desire and dream into the hearts and minds of some of Slidell’s business men and women. Even though it may have thought like an impossibility to ever start a teen club in this community, God knew exactly what He was doing and who He was going to use to get it going.
Ohana Pier is still in the growing stages of life, but so are us all. We never stop growing and we will go through different stages of growth to get where we are supposed to be. I remember sitting at the front counter of the club with 20-30 teenagers on any given weekend just hanging out. But within the past year we have seen significant growth and additions as now we reach some 400+ teens a weekend.
This youth club has since been the catalyst to starting what we call OHANA MAHALO, a service on Sundays geared totally to the teenager. Ohana, which means family, has been extended to MAHALO, which means to praise. Sundays are filled with activities, song and messages of truth from the Bible with the teenager in mind. Jesus told us to ‘compel people’ which is what we do on Friday and Saturday to come to Ohana on Sunday so that we can Praise. We started Ohana Mahalo in April of 2013 and have seen great growth in attendance.
